19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.
The opponent defended 4 early chances in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
